Gee, golly, gosh, EUREKA! #architalks

Every month a group of international architects and designers converge on the internet to write about a single topic and publish from their own individual point of view. This is Architalks.

If you own your own business, or have ever owned your own business, then you understand the concept of Eureka. While a specific image may come to mind, the word is actually attributed to Archimedes, the famous Greek Mathematician, upon his discovery of a method to calculate the volume of an irregular shape by measuring the amount of water it displaced. The story goes that upon discovering this he ran out of his home shouting Eureka (Greek word meaning “I found it”). However in his excitement and fevered zeal he forgot to dress and thus ran through the streets naked. I don’t know about you, but I don’t care how excited he was. No one wants to see old man butt. But for us entrepreneurs the feeling is the same when we make a sale, land a new account or client, or otherwise succeed in some way within our chosen field. As an entrepreneur, and as an architect, I get that feeling every time a new client decides to put their trust in me to design their home.
